Description
Yellow Gold Antique Pearl Star Pendant
c. 1850s – 1890s
If you’ve been hanging around here for any length of time, you know that I feel that jewelry that sits in a jewelry box unworn is sad jewelry. Some pieces fade out of fashion or can’t be worn as originally intended, but that doesn’t mean that should be left to languish. This Antique Pearl Star Pendant had once been a brooch, as well as a pendant, at one time. But it may have just been hiding in the bottom of someone’s jewelry box collecting dust since its pin stem disappeared. Thank goodness for the bail at the top – it still has purpose and can find a new forever home as a necklace.
What We Love About It:
Yellow Gold Antique Pearl Star Pendant
The star with pearls motif was a popular one in Victorian times. The Victorians assigned meaning to just about everything and anything celestial was particularly popular. This lovely piece may have lost its pin stem (we can have one re-added, if you like, without much trouble – just message me for pricing), but it functions perfectly well as a necklace. And so even if it’s a cloudy night, your star can still shine.
The Deets:
The Victorian era pendant is crafted out of 10kt yellow gold and is embellished with seed pearls of varying sizes (20 of them) – thirteen on the base star and six on the star’s rays, with the final pearl sitting in the bail. As mentioned above, the piece used to also function as a brooch, but the pin stem is now missing. We can add on a pin back to the piece, if you choose. Just message me for pricing. I show the pendant attached at a 16″ 14kt yellow gold fine rope chain and that’s what’s currently included in the price, however, if you’d like to choose a different style of chain or length, I can certainly make that happen. Just message me for pricing. The star pendant is 1″ tall by 3/4″ wide and the entire necklace weighs 3.7g
Star light, star bright, I wish I may, I wish I might, have this wish I wish tonight. My wish? That this pendant finds a new home and someone to love it and let it get back to being happy jewelry.
