Vintage “In Case of Emergency” Pendant
c. 1860 -1880
We could all use a back up plan right now, right? I mean, the world is a crazy place. So, it’s good to have something to fall back on in case of an emergency. Granted, the currency in this vintage “In Case of Emergency” pendant is no longer in circulation, but why would we let facts stop us?
What We Love About It:
Vintage “In Case of Emergency” Pendant
I guess I should admit that I have a lucky $2 bill in my wallet and two gold $1 coins in there too. Just in case. I’m not sure in case of what. But they’re there just in case. But what if you could wear your “just in case” funds around your neck under glass? Brilliant, I say. Emergency fund? Check. Pretty necklace? Double check!
The Deets:
The pendant charm, created in 9kt yellow gold (hallmarked), has a 10 shilling note tucked under glass. (Just because I love the history, the ten-shilling note was the smallest denomination note ever issued by the Bank of England. The note was issued by the Bank of England for the first time in 1928 and continued to be printed until 1969. The note ceased to be legal tender in 1970 and was removed in favour of the fifty pence coin). The charm itself measures 2cm in length and width and is engraved with the words “In Emergency Break Glass” on the side and hallmarks on the back. We’ve suspended it from a 14kt yellow gold 16″ cable chain, however, we can swap out the chain for another length or style, at your request. Just message us prior to purchasing.
I think that this would be a great addition to someone’s “neck stack”. A perfect 10, one might say. And who knows… maybe it saves your hide someday when you’ve forgotten your wallet at home. 😉
