Description

You know how much we love our antique/vintage jewelry over here, right? Well, did you know we love coffee almost as much? And who knows how to make coffee seem ultra chic? The French. They started serving espresso in tiny cups called Demitasse cups (french for “half cup”). But apparently, somewhere along the way, the Japanese caught on and decided they wanted to be fancy too. Even in a time of war, it would appear. You see, this hand-painted demitasse set was made in Occupied Japan (1945-1952).

What We Love About It: It was the coloring that drew us to the set initially, at auction. But then the tiny little cups with their pretty flowers won us over and we just couldn’t pass the set up.

The Deets: The nine piece set includes a demitasse pot (7.5 in.), sugar bowl with cover, creamer and six cups and saucers, painted in shades of pink and grey on a creamy white base, with accents of gold.

Feeling a bit fancy? Or French? Or you’re just hankering for a tiny cup of coffee? We’ve got ya’, babe.
