Vintage Gold Filled Victorian Mesh Fringe Slide Bracelet
When we think of Downton Abbey (and oh how we miss it!) we can’t help but think of Victorian mesh fringy slide bracelets. There was an episode where one of the ladies had one on and the visual burned itself into our brains. What’s not to love about them? They are eye-catching and sparkly, while allowing for one to enjoy many a dinner of excess and still be able to wear the bracelet. All kidding aside, the adjustability was one of the most endearing factors of these pieces.
What We Love About It:
Well, aside from the “my wrist feels a bit thick today so I’m going to slide this open a little further” feature, we love the delicate little fringe that hangs off of the emblem. Granted, one piece of fringe is missing, but that doesn’t take away from its charm in our eyes.
The bracelet is gold-filled and in excellent shape for its age. There is one piece of fringe missing and some discoloration to the adjustable end of the clasp but we’re not in perfect shape either and we’re 1/3 of the age of this beauty. When fully extended, the bracelet will fit an 8″ wrist but given its adjustability, it could also fit a very tiny wrist too. The slide holds four tiny seed pearls amidst a scroll motif and the finial at the end mimics the same scroll-work in its engraving.
This piece makes for a great every day bracelet and even better if you don’t have anyone else around when you’re getting dressed in the morning. No extra set of hands needed to secure this baby to your wrist. 😉
