Description
Vintage 14kt Yellow Gold Opal and Natural Ruby Ring
Some things just go together. Chocolate and peanut butter. Peanut butter and jelly. Jelly and biscuits. Biscuits and gravy. Oh. Hi. Sorry – we got carried away with our food pairing companions. Happens all of the time. But just like these great combos, the natural ruby and the opal are also great amigos. The complement each other well. And lookie what we have here – a natural ruby and opal ring.
What We Love About It:
The opal in the center is cool and icy and shifty – just like opals can be. And the rubies surrounding it are smoky and red-hot – just like rubies are supposed to be. It’s like fire and ice.
The Deets:
The ring is crafted in 14kt yellow gold (marked and tested) and we estimate it to be from the Victorian era. There is a center opal round cabochon that is full of blues and greens and measures about 3.8mm and it’s surrounded by six natural round faceted rubies, each approx. 2.6mm, in the shape of a flower. The rubies are a nice deep red and fairly clear, although one does have a small chip at the girdle. The shoulders leading up to the head of the ring have a scroll motif that’s been hand engraved. The ring is currently a size 5.5 US but could easily be sized by our jeweler (see options and pricing in this listing) or by yours. It currently weighs in at 2.22g.
No matter your favorite food combinations, we promise you’ll love the gemstone combo here. We swear on a can of biscuits.
