Victorian Wedding Bracelets (Matched Set)
c. 1840 – 1890
If you were a young noblewoman, born into Victorian times, the planning of your wedding began at just about your first breath. Jewelry and other accouterment were accumulated over the next 18 years in preparation. A set of Victorian Wedding Bracelets would have been de rigueur. But to find an intact pair these days? Almost unheard of. I’ll explain why below.
What We Love About It:
Victorian Wedding Bracelets (Matched Set)
Victorian wedding bracelets were something the bride was, well, supposed to wear in the wedding. If you think back to the time period, it was high collars and long skirts. One body part you could show off? Your wrists. But often times these bracelet sets were later broken up, with one bracelet going to one daughter and the other to yet another daughter. So to find a matched set, still intact, is fairly rare. Plus, I especially love the “clasp” on these. The little barrel slides into the coil to secure the bracelet around the wrist.
The Deets:
The two bracelets are made for tiny wrists. Let’s just get that out of the way now. If you have a standard 7″ wrist, they will not fit. If you are a tiny person with a 6″ wrist, they might. That said, there are collectors out there who would not dare to wear these but would display them instead, so they are still valuable in their diminutive size. They are gold-filled and in pretty good shape for being well over 100+ years old. We did have to repair the “shield” on one of the finials but it’s a great match. They are 5.2 grams each in weight and would best fit a 5.5″ wrist, but possibly up to a 6″ wrist.
Whether you’re a collector of Vintage wedding jewelry or you just love the look of a matched set (I think they would stack nicely on a single wrist too), these beauties have got you covered. No stern Victorian mother required.
