It’s just you and me. Forever. Just like Hall and Oats said. We’re guessing they weren’t really talking about Sarah and her smile but instead were talking about this toi et moi (you and me in French) old mine cut diamond bypass ring. Had to be.
What We Love About It: The toi et moi has been a style that’s proved to be timeless. Some famous rings in this style include Jackie Kennedy’s engagement ring from JFK and Josephine’s engagement ring given to her by Napoleon Bonaparte. We love that it represents two people coming together as one. And we love that the style has proven to be timeless while being unique at the same time.
The Deets: Our toi et moi is comprised of two old mine cut diamonds, set in prong-set mountings from the 1890’s which are fitted to a 14kt yellow gold bypass ring with a split shank from the mid-twentieth century. One diamond measures .33ct and grades at an I2 (due to a small chip on the crown and tiny chips in the girdle – the stone is eye-clean and none of the chips are easily noticeable to the naked eye) and K color. The second stone is .43ct and is an SI1/L. The second is a deeper stone, so that both face up to be about the same size when looking from a bird’s-eye view. The ring is currently a US size 7.5 but could easily be sized by your jeweler or ours (for a fee – see options and pricing here in the listing).
We think that our toi et moi would make a great engagement ring or could also be a stunning pair of earrings. Either way, we think Hall and Oats would approve.
