Opals and pearls have been a favorite combo for years. The opal has always symbolized mystery and love (read about pearls and the myths and legends surrounding them here). The pearls symbolize purity. Folks during the Victorian era prized both. The opal and pearl brooch here would have been a prized possession of any Victorian woman, that’s for sure.
What We Love About It: The color of the opals is intense and deep. No need to use a filter to showcase these beauties. And the four pearls balanced against the four opals with the flourishes of gold make us feel dainty and a little fancy.
The Deets: The brooch is made out of 14kt yellow gold (tested) and comprised of four opals (2mm ea.) and four cultured pearls – 2 at 4mm ea., 1 at 5mm and the dangling pearl drop at 7mm. It’s 1.5″ wide and 1.25″ tall to the bottom of the pearl drop. There is a Victorian era pin back on the reverse and also a bale for hanging a chain through it (we can provide you with a vintage chain for an additional fee if you’d like. Message us for pricing).
Just like the women of the Victorian times, we could all use a little something to help us feel pretty. We promise this brooch/pendant will do the trick.
