Retro 14kt Yellow Gold Marquise Diamond Freeform Ring (Vintage)
c. 1970 – 1980
Oh to go back in time. You see, we’re children of the ’80’s. And in Jr. High School, Mrs. Fisher was our 7th and 8th grade science teacher. She was glamorous and always dressed to the nines. And she had not only a marquise diamond free-form ring like this one as her engagement ring, but she also had a similar one as a pinky ring. We wanted to BE Mrs. Fisher when we grew up. Maybe that’s what drew us to this ring to begin with. Mrs. Fisher from Meredith Jr. High School, if you’re reading this, thank you.

What We Love About It:
Well, if it isn’t obvious by now, we love it because it reminds us of one of our idols. But beyond that, we also love that you can’t put this ring in a box. Well, a ring box yes. A standard description box? No. It would be like putting Baby in a corner.
The Deets:
The ring is crafted out of 14kt yellow gold (stamped) and holds a modern marquise cut diamond (.43ct/ G / I1) in its free-form, wavy clutches. It’s currently a size 6 but could be sized up or down several sizes by our jeweler (see details in this listing for options and pricing) or by yours. It weighs in at 5.77g. We’d love to see someone use this as a fun alternative engagement ring! And if you are curious how the name marquise was designated for this shape in gemstones, you might want to check this out.
This is what vintage jewelry can do and maybe does best – it can transport you back in time. And give you hope that somehow, you can still be just like Mrs. Fisher.
