Retro 14kt Yellow Gold Alexandrite Screwback Earrings (Vintage)
When the folks in the 1950s wanted to make a statement, they really wanted to make a statement! These 14kt yellow gold alexandrite earrings dangling from one’s lobes (along with the matching brooch/pendant – you can find it listed here on the site), would have definitely been eye-catching back in the day. Heck, we think they would totally be eye-catching now!
What We Love About Them: We’re suckers for color change stones and while these alexandrites are synthetic (they would be in some millionaire’s jewelry box or a museum, were they natural), they are top quality and have a beautiful color change from blue to purple with flashes of green.
The Deets: The earrings are marked 14kt gold and have also been tested to be such. They’re set with modified triangular-shaped man-made alexandrite stones that have a fantastic color change. The detailing on the earrings, all the way down to the small flowers at the back of the screw-back (these are not currently made for pierced ears, although they could be converted) is superb. They are well made. They weigh in at 9.67g inclusive of all materials and drop about 1.25″ below the ear.
Wear them on their own for beautiful plays of light when the sun catches them. Wear them with the matching brooch/pendant to create quite the statement. It’s all up to you.
