Elvis said it best – a hunka-hunka burning love. That’s what we have here with this retro Etruscan-style alexandrite brooch/pendant. It’s definitely a chunky baby! And while technically alexandrite is the birthstone for those born in June, we think any February baby worth their salt would love this piece as an amethyst stand-in.
What We Love About It: While the piece is likely from the 1950s, it harkens back to a style popular long ago. We love that it’s a statement piece and you could wear it as a brooch or as a pendant. Just like our Victorian friends, we are gals that love versatility. Be sure to check out the matching earrings too!
The Deets: The piece has been tested at 14kt yellow gold and is quite a hunk of gold at that, weighing in at 28.81g inclusive of all materials. The stones are man-made alexandrites (if they weren’t, this would be in a museum somewhere) but they’re high quality and have a lovely color change from blue to purple with hints of green. The piece is extremely well made (although we believe the pin stem was added later) and the detailing on it is fantastic. It measures approx 3″ in diameter.
Looking for a statement piece that’s going to keep you on your toes? Is it blue? Is it purple? Are those flashes of green?
