Pearl and Amethyst Flower Pendant
c. 1870 -1890
If you’ve been around here for a while, you know I love a conversion piece. Any conversion piece. But maybe especially the stick pin. Once a lapel staple, they are now a bit out of fashion. But that doesn’t mean they have to get stuck in a jewelry box to live out their lives in the dark, velvet corners. This Pearl and Amethyst Flower was a teeny tiny stick pin but is now a teeny tiny pendant. It’s demure in size but would make a great layering piece for your neckmess (get it? It sounds like necklace, but it’s when you wear more than one.). As usual, the conversion was done with an eye towards the future. Jewelry fashions are cyclical, so if the stick pin comes back in style, this beauty can be returned to its original use.
What We Love About It:
Pearl and Amethyst Flower Pendant
I think my favorite part about this piece is its tiny size. It’s about 1/4″ in diameter, which makes it all the more versatile. It can be worn as a layered piece, with other pendants, or on its own for a more delicate statement. I will say I’ve gone back and forth between deciding it’s a star and a flower. You get to be the final judge.
The Deets:
This sweet little pendant has a tiny round cut amethyst that’s prong set at its center, which is surrounded by six seed pearls, each prong set into a flower petal/arm of the star. It’s crafted out of 14kt gold (tested) and we used the original stick pin stem to create the bail on the back. I’ve paired it with a 16″ 14kt yellow gold rope chain, but I can swap that out for any length or style chain you might want. Just message me first, as pricing can vary greatly from one style chain to another, due to the weight of the chain in question. This piece, with its current chain, weighs 1.93g.
Star? Flower? Does it matter? Because it’s adorable!
