Ostby Barton 10kt Yellow Gold and White Sapphire Alternative Engagement Ring (Vintage)
We get it. Not everyone is a fan of diamonds. Some folks take offense to the mining conditions. Some worry about conflicts that were funded for a period of time from the mining and sale of diamonds. And there are also folks that just don’t like the looks of them. Enter stage left the alternative engagement ring stones. One of our favorites just happens to be Colorless or “White” Sapphire. It’s a great stone for those who like the look of a diamond but are opposed to them or want something a little more cost conscious. It cuts and sparkles similar to a diamond and this one is even cut like an old stone.
What We Love About It:
This is an easy one to answer: you can get the look of an almost 2ct diamond with out the 2ct diamond price! And no one has to be any the wiser but you and your beloved.
The Deets:
The ring is fashioned out of 10kt yellow gold and was created by Ostby and Barton (we’ve had pieces by them in the past and they have ties to The Titanic, which you can read about here). The stone measures 7.55mm which makes it just shy of 2cts. It’s cut to resemble and old diamond with its chunky facets and thick table and girdle and set in a traditional six prong solitaire mounting. There is some very minor abraiding to the table but it’s not noticeable to the naked eye and could be polished out if one wishes. The ring is currently a 6.25 US but could easily be sized up or down by our jeweler (options and pricing are included in this listing) or yours. It weighs in at 1.60dwt gross weight.
This ring offers a LOT of bang for your buck. And it can be our little secret.
