Modernist 18kt Yellow Gold Color Change Sapphire Bypass Ring (Vintage)
When the term “large and in charge” was first uttered, they must have been talking about our Modernist 18kt YG Color Change Sapphire Bypass Ring. It’s a big girl. Not only is it a bit girthy, but it’s just downright heavy in all of its 18kt yellow gold wonder. Our bet is that this was a custom designed piece for someone in the 60’s. Someone totally fabulous!
What We Love About It:
Like the architecture of the same time period, you’re either going to love it or hate it. There’s no in-between. We love that it’s substantial and you’re going to know that you have it on. The bypass design has always been a favorite of ours, as has any color change stone.
As we mentioned earlier, the ring is crafted in 18kt yellow gold – to the tune of a whopping 9.68dwt of 18kt yellow gold. Each of the two round synthetic color change sapphires measures 12mm, making them approx. 5.25cts EACH. That’s 10 and 1/2 carats of color change sapphires! The stones are not an absolutely perfect match, which we think is awesome. It would be hard to find two natural sapphires of this size that would be exact matches, making this all the more authentic. The ring is not for the faint-of-heart. It measures 1 1/16 inches across the finger. But it is such great statement piece! It’s currently a size 7 US and would be hard but not impossible to size up or down one size. However, our current sizing options in the listing aren’t sufficient for calculating the cost to size this big gal, so message us to get an estimate. Be sure to see the photos of the stones under different light sources to see the color change range. It’s pretty spectacular.
If you love modernist architecture and design and/or color change sapphires, there is no better combo out there. Plus just think, if you needed to knock someone in the head (and we’re not advocating that, mind you), it could double as a weapon too. 😉
