Yellow Gold (14kt) “Buttercup” Vintage Diamond Engagement Ring (GIA Cert)
We don’t even try to hide our love for flowers. We have them in our brick and mortar showroom. WendyKate posts them on our social media often. So when we find jewelry pieces depicting flowers, they’re a shoo-in for the shop. We also love to research the symbolism behind the flowers the pieces depict. As we did with our “Buttercup” vintage diamond engagement ring. Buttercups are associated with spring and children, an as such, have come to symbolize youth, purity, happiness and friendship. We think those are all great symbols as part of a proposal.
What We Love About It:
We’re big flower fans, over here at KC&Co, so the buttercup setting won some raves from us. But that center stone is just on fire! It’s got gorgeous sparkle and we swoon over it every time we take it out of the case.
The Deets:
We’re not quite sure of the era on this one, but estimate it to be towards the end of the Victorian period. The Buttercup vintage diamond engagement ring is crafted in 14kt yellow gold with a “buttercup” head, holding a .47ct Old European Cut diamond inside its six prongs. The stone is GIA certified as a G color and VS2 clarity. Under the head, the gallery is open, allowing lots of light in to really make that baby sparkle and the shoulders of the shank have a twisted rope motif that spans about 1/2 way down. The ring is currently a size 5 US but could easily be sized up or down by our jeweler (see options and pricing within this listing) or by yours.
We think that a bouquet of buttercups with this ring tied to it with a ribbon would be a totally romantic proposal. But whatever spin you take on the asking part, the yes part is sure to follow with this pretty baby.
