We’re getting all MadMen up in here today. Why, do you ask? Because nothing screams Mid-Century Fashion more than a lizard pocketbook, you see. I mean, in what else would they carry their cigarettes?
Now you, you don’t have to have any cigarettes to carry this darling bag. Just a desire to stand out from the crowd and have people ask you where you got that darling bag. It’s circa 1950’s to early 1960’s and measures 10″ wide, at the widest point at the bottom of the bag; 7″ tall (not including the handle, with the handle it’s about 12″) and is 3″ wide, when unopened. The hardware on the bag appears to be brass.
Inside you’ll find it’s lined in tan suede, has a zippered lipstick pocket, a mirror pocket (complete with the mirror still intact inside!!) and a full depth pocket on the opposite side. The tag inside reads: A Guaranteed Handbag by Bensons of Brighton. We tried to do a little investigative work to find out more about this Bensons, but came up empty handed. Could be Brighton in the UK. Could be Brighton in Australia. No matter which, it’s traveled a long way to find its new home with you.
