Emerald and Diamond 18kt Yellow Gold Bar Pin/Brooch (Vintage)
When I took this Emerald and Diamond 18kt Yellow Gold Bar Pin Brooch to be appraised, all the appraiser could say the first five minutes was, “Wow! This thing is amazing.” He kept commenting on the labor intensive design. Me? I couldn’t take my eyes off of those emeralds. No photo will do them justice. Their green is literally brilliant!
Now on to the nitty gritty – the diamonds and emeralds are bezel set, the pin measures 2″ long with a hinge pin style back and it weighs 6.76g. There’s a pear shaped emerald at each end of the pin weighing .25cts each. Their SI in clarity and are a blue-green with 80% saturation. Adjacent to each emerald, there are round brilliant full cut diamonds, weighing approx .15 cts. each. As you move to the center of the pin from both sets of diamonds, there’s another set of pear shaped emeralds, weighing .57cts each (clarity and color match the first set). In the center of the pin there are two final round brilliant cut diamonds, again weighing about .15cts each. All diamonds are graded at G to H color and SI1 clarity. Total diamond weight is .90cts and total emerald weight is 1.64cts.
The appraiser tried to convince me not to sell this pin and to hang on to it. But I feel it’s true home is out there somewhere. Is it yours?
