Edwardian White Gold Ceylon Sapphire and Diamond Engagement Ring (Vintage)
I’m a project kind of gal. It’s something about making something better, or good again, that I love. When I come across a vintage mounting missing its center stone, my heart starts to race a little and my mind is off and running, conjuring up images of what it could look like with the right gem and a little elbow grease. Rarely am I lucky enough to find a mounting AND the perfect gemstone within minutes of each other. I’ve had some mountings (and some loose gemstones) for months on end before a match is made. Not the case with this Edwardian White Gold Ceylon Sapphire and Diamond Engagement Ring. It was clearly divine intervention that brought them both to my attention one afternoon a few weeks ago.
What We Love About It:
This Ceylon sapphire is the iciest of icy blues. It’s hard to capture it with film but in some light it looks almost like a diamond and then in others its stormy side comes out and it reminds you of the ocean on a very cold day.
The ring is 14kt white gold Edwardian filigree mounting with an illusion head holding the 1.11ct Ceylon Sapphire (5.5 x 5.4 x 4 mm with traditional heat treatment). Set on each shoulder there are three Old European cut diamonds, totaling .12ctw. The ring is currently a size 6.25US but could easily be sized up or down by our jeweler (see options and pricing above) or by yours. It weighs 2.1g, exclusive of the center stone.
Whether this ring becomes an engagement ring for someone looking for an alternative to a diamond or a “right hand ring” for a lover of the filigree, I’m pretty sure the wearer will be just as mesmerized by it as I am.
