Turn of The Century Austro-Hungarian Aquamarine, Pearl and Enamel Parure (Vintage)
A few times in your life, as a jewelry dealer, you find intact jewelry sets that are just knock your socks off amazing. And we just found one. Austro-Hungarian and from the early 1900s (during the Edwardian era), this natural aquamarine, seed pearl and enamel vermeil six piece parure is embracing its socks-knocking-off life, outside of the jewelry box in which it’s spent the last few decades of its life.
What We Love About It:
It’s rare. Not the actual pieces themselves (although they are getting harder and harder to find) but that IT’S ALL STILL TOGETHER! That is amazing. These sets historically get broken up as pieces are passed down to various family members. The fact this one is still intact and together is a downright miracle.
The pieces, there are six of them, are comprised of gold vermeil and natural aquamarines, accented by natural seed pearls and hand painted enamel work. The set includes: 1) a necklace with four bezel set aquas at 18.5″ in length 2) a bracelet with six bezel set aquas (and a tiny bit of enamel loss to one link) that is 7″ in length 3) a brooch with three bezel set aquas that measures 2″ in width and 1.5″ top to bottom 4) a ring with one bezel set aqua that’s a 5.5 US in size (and would be difficult to size) and 5 & 6) a pair of screw back earclips with one bezel set aqua each measuring 2″ in length and 7/8″ at their widest points. All pieces have intricate detail including floral embellishments on the screw backs of the earrings and the pin stem of the brooch. The workmanship on these pieces is totally first-rate!
If you’re looking for a historical jewelry set that is out of this world, this parure is just that. We will only sell the pieces all together as a set (it’s made it this far in life as a set; who are we to break it all up?). Message us for additional details and with any questions you may have. This listing will incur shipping charges outside our normal range due to the delicate nature of the set and the weight. Please see shipping charges at check out for details.
