Art Deco Sapphire, Diamond and Cultured Pearl Ring (Vintage)
Some pieces come across our desk and while they’re pretty rough around the edges, you just know they have the potential to be great! This piece came to us as an Art Deco Sapphire, Diamond and “Pearl” brooch, missing a couple of stones and with a pearl in the center that was plastic and its paint peeling off. We knew we could get her all cleaned up and maybe even make her a little better. And we did.
First, we polled our followers on Instagram and asked whether we should convert her to a ring and what her orientation should be (hands down the vote was yes and a North/South orientation). We found her a new lovely cultured pearl for her center, matched up the missing stones with vintage replacements and had a shank made for her. And wow! She even exceeded our expectations.
What We Love About It:
This ring makes a statement. No denying it. If you’re looking for something dainty and to wear every day, she’s not it. But, if you want a piece that folks will stop you on the street and ask you about it, thing ring is it. She is nothing short of stunning.
The Deets:
As mentioned, the ring was a former brooch that we removed the pin stem on and added a ring shank, also crafted in 14kt white gold, as is the rest of the ring. There are 14 natural sapphires (approx. .75cts), four Old European cut diamonds and 50 single cut diamonds, totaling 1.5ctw and ranging from I-K in color and VS2-I2 in clarity. The 3/4 cut cream-colored cultured pearl in the center measured 8.5mm and has top-notch luster. It sits at about 1.5″ north to south and about .75″ east to west. The ring is currently a size 5 US but could easily be sized by our jeweler (see options and pricing here in this listing) or by yours – we just suggest you find a jeweler that uses a laser welder, so the pearl doesn’t have the be removed to size. It weighs in at 9.74g.
If you’re a statement maker, we’d like to introduce you to our little friend. She’s ready to steal your limelight a little. 😉
