Today we embark on a new themed post series – Vintage Engagement Rings and The Zodiac. What does your sun sign say about the type of vintage engagement ring you might like? Well, a lot apparently.
We’ve all heard how your Zodiac sign (or some call it Sun Sign) can predict all kinds of things about you. What other signs you’re compatible with. What kind of work you might excel in. And even what foods you might like. So, why not think that the planets could have some pull when it comes to your engagement ring choice? For the next twelve weeks, we’ll dive into each sign in the zodiac and I’ll make my own predictions about what kind of ring might be a good fit.*
I thought it might be fun to take a look at some famous royals who had birthdays under each sign, and since I decided to start with the current sun sign (as of today), there are two famous Libras: Sarah Ferguson, The Duchess of York and Queen Min of Korea.
Libras are said to be equitable, charming and hesitant. Fergie and Queen Min were definitely charming. Sarah F won the heart of Prince Andrew and even though long divorced, they again live together and share their lives. That sounds equitable to me, even if not so hesitant.
Queen Min was the first wife of the first Koren emperor. Mom.com (because, I mean, they must be the experts here, right?) writes, “Known as the last empress of Korea, Queen Min, who aligned herself with Imperial Russia, was assassinated by Japanese swordsmen in a covert plot to end the newly established Korean Empire. As a Libra, Queen Min was known to be ambitious and uninterested in the formalities of life as an empress, preferring instead to discuss politics and read books to further her knowledge.” She sounds like she was about equality and she had to be charming to win the heart of an emperor.
While I can’t say what kind of engagement ring, if any, that Queen Min had, we do know all about Sarah’s ruby ring. Ruby’s are one of the hardest of the gemstones out there, after a diamond, so a hesitant Libra might opt for such a stone. And a unique colored center stone would give a Libra lady something to discuss while charming guests at a dinner party. So, I’m going out on a limb and suggesting that a ruby or other equally as delicious red gemstone as the center stone for a Libra engagement ring would be a big hit.
Are you born under the sign of Libra? Did I get close? Would you choose a colored center stone, most notably a ruby or other red stone? Lay it on me and set me straight in the comments.
