To say that things are a little wonky in the world right now would be an understatement. First, we’re all supposed to stay home because this crazy virus is running rampant. And then on top of it we have a bunch of idiots out there that don’t get how viral replication works, so they’re heading to spring break, Covid19 be damned. We can’t do much about it or them but you know what we can do? Drool over tiaras. And even better, these tiaras are within our grasp (assuming we have the funds for such – I personally don’t but I hope you do) because they are tiaras up for auction! Thank heavens for Sothebys (who has most of the listings here unless otherwise noted – click photos to head to the auction listings).
Even if we can’t actually purchase one ourselves, we sure can dream about it. What’s not to love about diamonds from the 18th century? Or a floral corsage tiara that was the property of a European Ducal family?
Perhaps a tiara that comes with its own fitted box and screwdriver (so it can be converted into a necklace, of course) is more your speed. Conversion can be the name of the game when it comes to tiaras. Just think of the versatility.
Or maybe a tiara once belonging to an Empress (or so Harry Winston said) would be more your speed. You really can’t go wrong with a floral design in silver-topped gold with more than 1900 old mine, Euro, pear and rose cut diamonds, if you ask me. #timeless
Perhaps pearls are more your style? Or maybe it’s the provenance of German nobility that piques your interest? That’s ok. There’s a little something here for everyone. *wink wink*
Then again, everyone is doing the necklace thing. A bracelet could be more understated on your trip to Target to see if they have been able to restock the toilet tissue. And the French do create the loveliest of tiara/bracelets, it would seem.
And of course, there’s the one that got away. I was so close too. I almost had the Hubbs hoodwinked into… I mean convinced… that buying this beauty would be a great investment and make a fabulous birthday gift. It was that final hammer price that had him running for the hills.
But which of these tiaras up for auction is your favorite? If money were no object today, which would you quietly bid on? Tell me in the comments. I’m dying to know!
